An Editor’s Top 5 Craft Tips for Emerging Writers
"Above all, this is what I most wish I could go back and tell myself as a new writer."
Welcome to our weekly column offering perspectives on lit mag publishing, with contributions from readers, writers and editors around the world.
As someone who’s received little formal training in creative writing, I believe strongly in the value of free writing resources, from workshops to lectures to feedback. That’s why for the past year, I’ve served as an editor at The Cloudscent Journal, an online magazine that focuses on uplifting emerging writers aged 12-25. In this role, I provide free, detailed feedback for writers every week, primarily in poetry and flash fiction.
