Inside One Magzine! Q & A With Richard Krawiec, Publisher of Jacar Press and Editor of One Magazine
A chat with Richard Krawiec
Howdy everyone!
Today I had the pleasure of chatting with Richard Krawiec, Publisher of Jacar Press and Editor of One Magazine. Richard and I have been pals on the interwebs for some time. It was great to finally meet him in person and hear about his projects.
One Magazine has a unique editorial process. The editors read through submissions until they find twenty-one poems they love, and then they go to print. There is no fee to submit. Writers should submit only one poem at a time, hence the name of the journal.
Richard also discussed other features of the magazine, the community outreach of his press, and their process of finding poetry from all over the world. We also veered into the subject of writing generally, how to write work that is political but not propagandistic, and some recent trends in the literary scene.
Richard also gives some stellar advice to writers who may not be connected to the literary world, but who are eager to be published and have their voices heard.
It was another great editor chat! Thank you to all who showed up to participate (including two additional editors of the magazine). And thanks to Richard for taking the time to give us this behind-the-scenes look at this important poetry magazine.
