A few months ago, a magazine’s Editor-in-Chief was kind enough to speak with me about an experience they had at their journal. The editor (who asked to remain anonymous) had a part-time paid position at a reputable magazine. However, the Board Chair had decided they wanted to screen people they hired and brought on as volunteers based on what applicants posted on social media. The editor was not comfortable with that.
