Save the Dates! October Panels, Interviews, Info Sessions and a Class!
so much going on...
October will be a big month here at Lit Mag News. There is a lot happening.
Before we jump in, I wanted to tell you about a class I’m teaching with Write or Die, starting next week. If you’ve been thinking of launching your own Substack but have questions about how to proceed, this class will be enormously helpful. We will cover how to carve out your niche on this platform, how to generate ideas quickly and consistently, as well as craft techniques for engaging your audience, tips for growing your audience, how to sustain the project over the long term and more. We will also talk about how to write articles and pitch to other venues, if you’re not sure you want to launch your own newsletter.
The class has a few spots left and begins October 7th. Learn more and register here.
Now, onto our events!
PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION LINKS FOR SUBSCRIBER-ONLY EVENTS ARE AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS EMAIL.
If you are ever having trouble locating an event date or registration link, you can always email me.
But please do write these dates on your calendars, log them on your gadgets, stitch them into your shirtsleeves, write them in chalk on your front steps, and whatever else you have to do to remember. I don’t want anyone to miss a thing!

Sunday, October 27th at 1:30 pm est: Q & A with Ronald Spatz, Editor of Alaska Quarterly Review
Alaska Quarterly Review is one of America’s premier literary magazines and a source of powerful, new voices. It is published twice a year in both print and digital editions and maintains partnerships with the Center for the Narrative and Lyric Arts and the Anchorage Museum. Founded in 1980 by Ronald Spatz and James Jacob Liszka, its mission is to discover, nurture and present eclectic and innovative literary works by a diverse range of new and emerging writers, and the non-commercial work of established writers, in print and digital formats, and in online and live public forums. We use the power of literary art to promote empathy, truth, and learning in service of positive change. Our features empower artists and writers to develop broader questions and difficult conversations including works focusing on gender, race, ethnicity, the environment, and social justice.
In this conversation, we’ll ask Ronald all about the history of AQR, the editorial process, and any questions we have about the issue we read for our Reading Club.
This Q & A is for subscribers only. The interview will be recorded. The video will be sent to paying subscribers.
