There are so many short forms in the world of literature that homing in one doesn’t seem like it should make much difference. Short is short, right?

Not exactly. Short prose is not just about word count, but what’s possible within that word count. While no short form is better than another, I’m a huge believer in the power of micro prose, which I define as a short essay or story that’s 300 words or less, not including the title.
