Whelp, dear friends, I was hoping to be home and back on schedule with a new news roundup starting today. In fact, I was eagerly looking forward to it.
Instead, I'm still in London. I still have no luggage, no computer, no clean clothes. Once again, I'm using my phone for this message. I am writing this while my daughter watches Scooby Doo on the hotel TV and we rush to get ready.
It hasn't all been terrible. In fact, aside from another five-hour wait at Heathrow on Saturday, it hasn't been so terrible at all.
We had a full day in London yesterday. We wound up meeting old friends who moved here, and who we thought we might not see again for years. We had dinner with my brother, who happened to be here (because he's working on a book! a whole other crazy thing I will tell you all about another time!). I got to see the Thames, savor the sounds of people here calling each other “bruv” and “mate,” ride the tube, and hold my friends’ new baby.
Needless to say though, I won't be able to write today's news roundup as planned.
We fortunately, mercifully, fingers-crossedly, have a new flight booked for this evening. I hope desperately to be home soon. And I cannot wait to resume regular Lit Mag News life.
Until then, be well, write your hearts out, read wisely, think good thoughts, stay safe, and I hope to see you soon!
Fondly,
Becky
Glad by now you are enroute, or even home - but what wonderful "lemonade" you made from the lemons of airline delays! Hope you have a safe and comfortable return!
I do hope you get away tonight, Becky. So glad you found some positives in the disruption.
