Welcome to our weekend conversation!
One thing I love seeing in this space is all of you getting to know one another. Our last Lit Mag Brag had over 300 comments. A good portion of those were readers taking the time to congratulate others on their successes, read each other’s work, and even make connections related to life circumstances beyond lit mags. This pleases me so much!
Naturally, I love when I teach you something or serve as a guide in some capacity for navigating lit mags. I especially love when that guidance includes nudging you to advocate for yourself in your literary pursuits. A reader recently shared this note with me:
I want to let you know what a difference Lit Mag News has made in my life. I had a disappointing lit magazine experience recently….Pre-Lit Mag News I would have stewed and fretted and wondered what I did wrong for weeks, maybe years. But since I'm a Lit Mag News reader and have more insight into the lit mag world than I used to, I got right on it…Being the squeaky wheel got their attention and the piece will be published….I never would have advocated for my work, without what I've learned reading Lit Mag News.
Spectacular!
The truth is, though, I learn a lot from all of you as well. I read every single comment, always, and I’m often reflecting on things you say throughout the week. Sometimes this means looking something up to learn more. Other times it means getting inspired to persevere with my work upon seeing how you all manage this very thing.
