I have trained friends and family: gift cards please, so I can get all the books I want (and not get duplicates like I did one year!)

Excellent ideas for any occasion or just because you feel like it.

Sometimes I get ideas at night in bed, and then I want a pen with a light so I don't wake my partner up. I believe aviation pilots used to be issued such a pen, but I've never found a good one. Anyone have any ideas?

Hmm...I'll look around for it for next year's list.

I realized I should have specified! The retro keyboard and the writer's Tarot.

I LOVE the look of that keyboard! And the Tarot cards are so beautifully made. Enjoy!

Thanks for this! I'm going to get at least 2 of the suggestions!

I'm curious --- which ones will you get?

Experiences worth writing about. In the 1938 intro to his short story collection Hemingway talks about "the places you have to go and the things you have to do and the people you have to meet" to be a writer. Some folks actually believe Flannery O'Connor who said you have all the experience you need as a writer if you have survived childhood. We would not have Death in the Afternoon if Hemingway had sat on his farm in Milledgeville, GA surrounded by his peacocks.
